The Benefits of English Stories

In the world of English stories, the simplest sentences can convey a whole lot of meaning. In the classic fable of the hare and the tortoise, the slow tortoise challenges the fast hare to a race. The hare is startled, but the tortoise's persistence and patience pay off as he wins the race. This story is also the origin of the English saying "slow and steady wins the race." It also teaches us that natural talent does not make us successful, and that overconfidence can lead to failure.

In addition to this, short stories are an excellent source of vocabulary and grammar lessons. Reading an English stories can introduce you to a variety of new words, structures, and expressions. Short stories also provide ample practice in reading and speaking, which can help your pronunciation and vocabulary. And as a bonus, they're easy to digest and can be enjoyed by students of all levels. So, why not try out English stories for yourself? You'll be glad you did!

While the story may be simple, there's always the challenge of learning a new language. For example, the classic fight between life and death has fascinated people for centuries. But in the story, the man makes silly mistakes and takes nature forces on too lightly. The dog, on the other hand, demonstrates a great deal of shrewdness in a dangerous situation. If both of them fail, then readers might wonder whose intelligence is better: the man or the dog? Apparently, Sly is much smarter than his fellow chimpanzees, but he wants to keep to himself and to play with clay all day.

Another classic English story is the Cinderella story. This children's story follows the fairy tale of a young girl who lives with her stepmother. She does her household chores and attends a ballroom party with her fairy godmother. Afterwards, the princess falls in love with the prince, who is attracted by her beauty. The prince then uses her glass shoe to find her and makes her queen. It is a tale that can inspire children to read, listen to, and understand English better.

Another benefit of reading stories is the chance for kids to talk about them. They can describe the story and ask questions, which helps them develop their vocabulary. If possible, children can draw pictures or write short stories about their favorite animals. It is a great way to promote creativity in young kids. If you are a parent, you can even encourage your child to write his or her own stories! So, what are you waiting for? Make your kids happy by reading books that teach them English!

The English program at SOU held a panel discussion for graduates from the English program. The panelists included Melody Condon, who graduated in 2012 and now works at the AHA Strategy and Creative Agency. Their diverse skill sets proved to be very valuable in fostering language learning among students. They were able to share their experiences and tips with others who have the same goal - to learn the language. This conversational exchange boosted their confidence and increased their knowledge of the language.
